  • ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

    Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 1998 with a modest intake of 30 students in U.G. Over the years it has grown and presently offers a sanctioned intake of 120 students. Over the last two decades the department has established itself as a centre of excellence for computer science studies in the state of Odisha. The department also offers P.G. course since 2011 with an intake of 18. The primary objectives of the department is to impart quality education, training and research at the UG and PG levels. The department is cherished with full-fledged team of experienced, dynamic and highly qualified faculties and supporting staff for imparting quality education.

    • To build a strong research and innovative teaching environment and to produce competent professionals in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.

         Mission of the Department

                The Mission of the department of Computer Science and Engineering:

    • M1: To prepare the students with strong fundamental concepts, analytical capabilities, programming and problem solving skills.
    • M2: Create an ambiance of education through faculty training, self-learning and academic practices.
    • M3: Provide opportunities to improve the leadership quality and the potential of   students  through  extra- curricular and co-curricular events.
    • M4: To make the students industry ready and enhance their employability in industries.

    Program Outcomes

     

        1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals,and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

     

        1. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

     

        1. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

     

        1. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

     

        1. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

     

        1. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

     

        1. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

     

        1. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

     

        1. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

     

        1. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

     

        1. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineeringand management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

     

      1. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

    PEO1: To enable the students for high quality engineering works with enhanced efficiency for a successful career.

    PEO2: To develop the leadership quality and entrepreneurship capabilities of the students.

    PEO3:To educate students with proficiency in core areas of computer science & engineering and related engineering to create novel products and solutions for the real life problems.

    PSO 1: Able to demonstrate the knowledge of AI, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing for designing intelligent system.

     

    PSO 2: Able to carry out different projects in advance area of AI and data science for the needs of the society.
