Physics

  • Department of physics was established in the year 1998 with Dr. P.C.Mohapatra, Ex-Principal Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, (now Ravenshaw University) in charge from 01-11-1998 to 31-06-2004. The department provides teaching of Physics and Materials Science in undergraduate Engineering courses.
    A Center for Scientific and Industrial Research has been set up in the name of Dr. Patitapaban Mishra a well known physicist of the state.

    In the first phase research on study of properties of different liquids will be conducted by using Ultrasonic Interferometer and later different projects will be submitted to AICTE, DST, UGC, etc. to continue with further research work. Proposal to conduct Research on Experimental Plasma Physics is our future agenda.

    Laboratory has got Audio-Visual facility which is now helpful in teaching the students both theory and practical effectively and illustratively. Study materials on laboratory and theory are provided by the department for clear understanding of the subject.

    Besides teaching, the department is involved in organizing various co-curricular activities to improve the academic ability of student and guide them for pursuing higher studies in Engineering & Technology in consultation with Institute of Physics, Institute of Mineral and Material Technology and Utkal University.

  • Dr. A. Satapathy, Associate Professor is presently acting as H.O.D. who had joined the Department on 15.10.1998 as Lecturer and the first teaching employee of this Institution. He had his Ph.D. on Fluid Dynamics from Fakir Mohan University, Balasore in the year 2011,under the guidance of Dr. Shyam Sundar Das, Head, Department of Physics, KBDAV College, Nirakarpur and Dr. Jayant Kumar Das, Reader, Stewart Science College in the topic “Physical aspect of flows of Heat Transfer in Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluid with or without Mass Transfer”.

    Besides teaching, Dr. Satapathy was former member of Section Managing Committee, ISTE, Odisha Chapter and coordinator of ISTE Faculty and Student Chapter. During his co-ordination, ABIT won the best Faculty Chapter and Best Student Chapter of ISTE Odisha Section. He is now coordinating the Skill Development Training Program in ABIT.

  • Dr. Manoj Kumar Praharaj joined as Lecturer on 01.07.2009 and is now working as Assistant Professor. In the year 2014, Dr. Praharaj awarded his Ph. D. degree from Ravenshaw University under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Sarmistha mishra, ex-head of the department, Ravenshaw University in the topic, “Intermolecular interaction studies in organic binary and ternary liquid mixtures at different temperatures, frequencies and concentrations by ultrasonic velocity measurements using ultrasonic interferometer techniques”.

    Dr.Manoj Kumar Praharaj has published a book titled: “Molecular interaction studies in organic liquid mixtures” ISBN: 9783659904790 with LAMBARP Academic publications, Germany in 2016.
    Besides Teaching Dr. Praharaj is working as the Library Committee Coordinator and associated with Research and Development cell.

    Mr. Chandra Sekhar Panda joined as Laboratory Assistant on 27.10.2000 and is now working as Demonstrator.

Engg. had won the third prize all over India and had brought name & fame to the Department as well as to the Institute.
    • Mr. Gaurav Jayaswal (2005-2009) and Mr Anup Ku Pandey (2002-2006) successfully completed student research project from Institute of Physics.
